TEACHING STYLE:
Embodiment. Often in any type of class or workshop, we study something but leave without having taken it in. In my classes, I hope to present you with a concept, then let you chew it up, digest it, and allow it to become part of you as you walk out the door. That is a big undertaking that only can happen by taking small bites that we fully taste and ingest. Poses are held and studied before we put them into a sequence or flow. Centering, relaxation, and mantras (repeated word or sound to aid concentration in meditation). Yoga is to be taken with us, observed in every moment, in every set of eyes we meet, and felt in every breath. The practice is so much more than a pose or style of clothing. I rarely move fast or hard in class-life seems to present those options daily. Calm tones, felt movements, breath awareness, and time to be still are always present in my teaching.
ABOUT ME:
I come from a small, rural, Polish settled village in NE. We moved to town when I was in the second grade. My roots in the country and with elders who carried our heritage into meals, language, and lifestyle gave me a little different lens for city life. As an adult, I see how the two influences led me to Yoga-to the progressive study based in natures roots. Family, friends, music, and animals are my priorities in life. Yoga allows me to honor those to the best of my ability. When I am not practicing yoga, one of those loves seems to become neglected. Living a life of “clean” food, supporting local in all of my purchases, and trying to travel whenever I can explains my patterns and goals. I am learning to be easier on myself with age. Faster is rarely better, contrary to my past beliefs.
GUILTY PLEASURES:
Losing time while playing with my cats or or spending hours singing.
FAVORITE PLACES TO TRAVEL TO:
The Rocky Mountains and NYC.
